We source our 1 Day Coatings from Penntek Industrial Coatings. This top-class manufacturer is the creator of the Polyurea compounds that make this flooring system so tough and resilient. At this point you may be wondering, “what is Polyurea and what is an Industrial Floor Coating?” 

Polyurea Primer / Basecoat

To summarize and bring our new readers up to speed, let’s do a little bit of recap. Polyurea is an elastic Polymer designed to create a moisture resistant bond coating to concrete and steel. It is very effective in commercial applications and has a wide variety of uses due to it’s resilient characteristics. In our application, Polyurea is applied directly to our pre-treated concrete floor (your old floor) and operates as a Basecoat for our Vinyl Chip System.

Once the Polyurea is rolled out (as shown below) onto your floors, we immediately spread our Vinyl Chip flake system. These two components then dry and bond together. After our floor is cured, we are left with a resilient Industrial Floor Coating that has a low affinity for moisture and a high tensile strength.

We use some commercial sanding & buffing equipment to purge our garage floor of dust and debris. This removes our top layer of concrete to expose a fresh layer that we use to apply our Polyurea bond coat. Preparing our floor is the most crucial part of the 1 Day Coatings process and is the stage where we spend most of our time. This must be done correctly to ensure proper bonding between our Vinyl Chip system and your garage floor.
We use commercial sanding & buffing equipment to purge our garage floor of dust and debris. This removes our top layer of concrete to exposes a fresh layer that we use to apply our Polyurea bond coat. 

 

As part of our prepping stage, we carefully assess your garage floors to check for cracks or any signs of distress. Once all of the cracks have been identified, we apply a mixture of Silica Sand & a Mender to seal & repair the cracks.

Lastly, we apply our Polyurea Primer / Basecoat. We also use a roller brush to help distribute this material evenly across your floors. Once the surface is smooth and even, we apply the Vinyl Chip flakes to complete our 1 Day Coating installation.

Our Installation Process

Preparing your floor is the most crucial part of the 1 Day Coatings process and is the stage where we spend most of our time. This must be done correctly to ensure a proper bond between our Vinyl Chip system and your garage floor.

As you can tell from the images above, this is a very involved process that must be done in sequential order. We work diligently and carefully to ensure that every square foot of your garage floor is properly treated and prepared before we apply the Polyurea Primer / Basecoat.

Now at this point, unless your from the construction industry or have some other familiarity with our product, this may sound a little like gibberish. We assure you, it’s easier than it sounds.
